Whitby

Enjoy historic tales of famous sails in this gem of a Yorkshire town!

Whitby is famous for many things: it's a traditional seaside resort with Blue Flag beaches, and some of the best fish and chips around. But there's so much more to discover here at one of the North East coast’s best-loved seaside towns. With so many attractions, including the world-famous steam North Yorkshire Moors Railway, it's a great place to visit. But it doesn’t end there. Whitby wallows in history, including fishing, the jet gemstone industry, Captain Cook and whaling. It also boasts prominent literary connections including Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula which featured the town, with the vampire first coming ashore here from Transylvania in the guise of a black dog. Whitby certainly has something for everybody, but be careful if you venture out after dark!
