West Midlands

Wander through the wonderful West Midlands!

If you are looking for things to do in the West Midlands, the region is packed with dazzling theatres, colossal exhibition centres, Balti restaurants, and shiny shopping malls. Shrines in Coventry include super-size-sports and music arenas and cathedral ruins alike. With endless ancient woodlands, heaths, and wetlands to explore, it isn’t hard to see how this place inspired JRR Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings. With county cricket, Premier League football, and rugby union alongside Europe’s biggest library, both sports fans and bookworms will be in heaven. The West Midlands is also home to Cadbury’s chocolate factory where you can taste the chocolate fresh from the production line. From cities with an industrial heritage to be proud of, modern attractions from safari parks to regenerated areas, and thriving communities the West Midlands has a real heart.

Cotswolds & Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip

Tue, 17 Sep 2024

We make our way to the thriving market town of Moreton in Marsh in The Cotswolds. The broad High Street is lined with elegant 17th and 18th Century buildings, among them the White Hart Royal, a former manor house in which King Charles I sheltered during the Civil War and the rare Curfew Tower with its original clock and bell.

After a stop here we head to Stratford-upon-Avon, best known as the birthplace of England’s most famous bard, William Shakespeare. Stratford upon Avon is a pretty historic market town situated on the banks of the River Avon and a popular tourist destination attracting over three million visitors a year. With its beautiful surroundings, wide range of tourist attractions and great shopping, it’s not hard to see why this town is such a hit with coach trip visitors.

Subject to traffic and travel, we then rejoin the coach at around 16:45 to make our way back to South Wales.

Ross-on-Wye Christmas Fayre Day Trip

Sun, 1 Dec 2024

Embraced by the River Wye, the market town of Ross-on-Wye is an inviting place to potter. When William Gilpin wrote Britain’s first travel guidebook about the Wye Valley in 1782, he sparked a trend for ‘picturesque tourism’. Today, as well as enjoying that same scenic beauty, you can browse independent shops, saunter alongside the town’s 19th-century mock-Gothic walls and Gazebo Tower folly and admire pastel-hued dwellings tumbling down the hillside to the river.

Ross-on-Wye Christmas Fayre takes place in the town centre with over 80 stalls selling handmade arts and crafts plus delicious artisan food and drink including decorations, candles, bath bombs, ceramics, jewellery, cheese, chutneys, hampers, brownies and blankets. Enjoy a bite to eat or a mulled wine to warm you up whilst you listen to live music at the Market House from local choirs and bands.

This a great opportunity to do a spot of Christmas shopping and get into the festive spirit!

Subject to traffic and travel, we depart Ross-on-Wye at around 16:30 to start our homeward journey back to South Wales.
